Autumn Ride to Lymm Dam

Last weekend’s ride was an absolute gem! We set off from our usual spot at Phoenix Park and made our way over to Lymm Dam before looping back home.
It was one of those crisp, dry autumn mornings, perfect cycling weather, and we rolled out around 10am. The route took us down through Moore, past Walton Hall Gardens, and on to Stockton Heath. From there, we cruised through Grappenhall and hopped onto the Trans Pennine Trail all the way to Lymm.
The trail was stunning, proper autumn vibes with all those golden leaves, so of course we stopped for a few photos along the way.
When we reached Lymm Dam, the coffee van was absolutely packed, so we headed into the town centre instead. We found a lovely little spot near Lower Lymm Dam, parked up the bikes, and went in search of caffeine and cake. Most of the crew made a beeline for Sexton’s Village Bakery, grabbing teas, coffees, and (naturally) a cake or two for good measure.
It was a bit chilly sitting around, so after warming up and refuelling, we didn’t hang about too long. Back on the bikes, up the hill, and onto the Pennine Way to retrace our route home.
Of course, we couldn’t resist a few detours! First up a quick stop over Latchford Locks for some more photos, then we followed the Leeds–Liverpool Canal through Warrington. Later on, we decided to extend things a little by taking to the Widnes side of the Mersey loop route. A few of the group even stopped off at The Ferry Tavern for a well-earned drink before the final stretch - down past Spike Island, over the bridge, and back into Runcorn and Phoenix Park.
All in all, it was another brilliant, laid-back ride, great scenery, great company, and the perfect way to keep the legs spinning through these golden autumn months.
This coming weekends ride will take place on Sunday 16th November 2025 and we're looking forward to seeing you all, and hopefully a few new faces, on next week’s ride. Details will be released soon.
Have a great week, everyone!
